HEY STRANGERS!

Greetings, fellow adventurers! It’s Day 14 of our epic West Coast road trip, and guess what? We’ve traded our high-octane sightseeing for a leisurely day of beachfront breakfasts and urban exploration in the charming city of Portland.

Today, we awoke in our cozy beach bungalow, ready to embrace a slower pace. With no concrete plans on the agenda, we decided to savor the moment.

Our morning began with a delectable breakfast at Grumpy’s in Rockaway Beach, a local gem which served us up some mouthwatering waffles and French toast. The welcoming staff made the experience even more delightful.

After fueling up, we meandered down the charming Main Street of Rockaway Beach. Gift shops, boutiques, and quaint coffee shops beckoned us to explore their treasures. We couldn’t resist taking a moment to gaze at the iconic Twin Rocks before hitting the road.

Our next stop was Cannon Beach, just a scenic 40-minute drive up the highway. As we approached, the dramatic landscape of hills and mountains against the gloomy sky had us in awe. Cannon Beach itself was a stunner, with Haystack Rock stealing the show. Fun fact: Did you know that Haystack Rock is a 235-foot sea stack and a haven for nesting seabirds and tide pool creatures? It’s a true natural wonder!

We spent a good while strolling along the shoreline with Georgia bravely wade into the chilly waters of the Pacific Ocean.

We then set off towards Portland. Once arrived, checked into our hotel and hit the streets. Uncertain of our next move, we stumbled upon a mall, and like any explorers in a new city, we couldn’t resist the allure of retail therapy. Our curiosity led us to Punch Bowl, a massive 3,000+ square-foot dining and entertainment spot.

Here, we indulged in mouthwatering food, shared a punch bowl cocktail and engaged in a fiercely competitive series of Connect 4. Let’s just say, Georgia might need some practice before next time!

As the day wound down, we strolled back to our hotel, anticipating a relaxed evening. Tomorrow marks our last full day in the States before we head north to Seattle and cross the border back into beautiful British Columbia.

But don’t fret, dear readers! Our adventure isn’t over just yet. Tomorrow promises a visit to none other than Ryan Reynolds’ company, Aviation Gin! Stay tuned for the exciting details.
